La vita di Roberto Sini, costretto su una sedia a rotelle da un parto sfortunato, tra ostinazione, passioni, amori e un formidabile attaccamento alla vita alimentato da un’insaziabile sete di conoscenza e dalla predilezione per i libri. Cresciuto e vissuto in un paese della provincia sarda, sotto l’amorevole protezione dei genitori e dei fratelli, dopo la morte della madre si trova a vivere in città nella casa della sorella maggiore. Sebbene allo stremo delle forze per le condizioni di salute ormai compromesse, accetta di raccontare al nipote le proprie vicende. Sarà quest’ultimo, nel rimettere in ordine le varie parti del racconto, a imbattersi in un mistero che lega un nome di donna su un vecchio libro di Goethe, un mazzo di rose e una tesi di laurea lasciata sulla tomba di Roberto.

Vincitore del premio Gramsci per la sezione narrativa.

The story of Roberto Sini, confined to a wheelchair due to a difficult birth, unfolds between determination, passions, loves, and a remarkable attachment to life fueled by an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a deep love of books. Raised in a small Sardinian town under the devoted care of his parents and siblings, Roberto moves to the city to live with his older sister after the death of his mother. Though weakened by his declining health, he agrees to recount his life story to his nephew. As the young man pieces together the fragments of Roberto’s tale, he stumbles upon a mystery: a woman’s name written in an old Goethe book, a bouquet of roses, and a thesis left on Roberto’s grave.

Winner of the Gramsci Prize for Fiction.
