SINOSSI:
Siracusa, anni ’50. Tore guarda il mare della costa Jonica affascinato dall’immensità di quell’azzurro che ritrova negli occhi di suo zio Franco, con il quale vive assieme alla madre Elena, fino all’improvvisa tragedia che lo porterà in un orfanotrofio ad Alghero. Lì, sotto l’occhio vigile della giovane suor Severina, educatrice e attenta guardiana, con un passato oscuro dal quale emerge un vissuto morboso e tossico che si riverserà sui ragazzi, stringerà un forte legame con Filippo, Vanni e Miriam. Il loro sodalizio, intenso e viscerale, li porterà a vivere i cambiamenti e le trasformazioni preadolescenziali attraverso un solido legame fatto di alleanze, patti, complicità. Dopo molti anni, ormai anziano, Tore si ritroverà ad Alghero alla ricerca di Miriam per consegnarle un oggetto che le appartiene ma che farà anche riaffiorare il passato e vissuti sopiti, in parte dimenticati e in parte mai esplorati, riaprendo antiche ferite, lontani amori, amicizie perdute e ritrovate. Sarà Myr, la giovane nipote di Miriam, il filo conduttore dei ricordi che si dipanano nell’arco di oltre sessant’anni, portando alla luce dettagli fondamentali dell’infanzia lontana di quei quattro ragazzi che avevano vissuto in simbiosi in orfanotrofio. Un percorso interiore ricco, profondo, travagliato, che emerge attraverso un racconto che assume le sfaccettature del noir psicologico iniziato nella Sicilia del secolo scorso per giungere fino ai giorni nostri in Sardegna.

Syracuse, 1950s. Tore gazes at the Ionian coast, mesmerized by the vastness of the blue he also sees in the eyes of his uncle Franco, with whom he lives together with his mother Elena—until a sudden tragedy sends him to an orphanage in Alghero. There, under the watchful eye of young Sister Severina—an educator and strict guardian with a dark past, marked by a morbid and toxic history that spills over onto the children—Tore forges a deep bond with Filippo, Vanni, and Miriam. Their intense and visceral friendship carries them through the changes and transformations of preadolescence, bound by alliances, pacts, and complicity. Many years later, now an elderly man, Tore finds himself back in Alghero searching for Miriam, to return an object that belongs to her—an object that reawakens memories of the past, long-buried experiences, some forgotten, others never explored, reopening old wounds, distant loves, and friendships lost and found.
