Cresciuta in un popolare quartiere di Cagliari e circondata da affetti sinceri che purtroppo non bastano a salvarla\, Aurora attraversa gli anni della giovinezza portando su di sé il peso dell’obesità\, dell’inadeguatezza e del giudizio del mondo. Diventata donna\, la sua lotta quotidiana contro lo specchio si trasforma in un’incapacità di amare gli altri\, conseguenza diretta del non riuscire ad amare se stessa. Intrappolata nel proprio disagio\, Aurora si troverà di fronte alla necessità di affrontare il proprio riflesso e di intraprendere un difficile percorso di rinascita\, capendo che l’unica via d’uscita è ripartire da sé per concedersi finalmente una nuova possibilità \nL’autrice \nMaria Bonaria Capone\, nata a Cagliari nel 1964\, è una scrittrice e insegnante profondamente legata alla sua terra\, dove tuttora risiede con il marito e i loro tre figli. Laureatasi in Lettere moderne nel 1987\, ha iniziato subito a insegnare nelle scuole superiori\, una professione vissuta con passione che ha fortemente influenzato il suo percorso letterario. Accanto all’amore viscerale per la lettura e la scrittura\, coltiva da sempre interessi artistici come la pittura e la danza orientale. Il suo esordio letterario avviene nel 2022 con il romanzo “La cattedra rovesciata: un insolito anno scolastico” (edito da bookabook)\, un’opera in cui attinge alla sua esperienza sul campo per raccontare le complesse dinamiche relazionali tra docenti e studenti. Nel 2026\, l’autrice consolida la sua produzione narrativa pubblicando con Camena edizioni il suo secondo romanzo\, “Il peso dello specchio”\, un testo intimo e toccante in cui si allontana dalle aule scolastiche per esplorare con grande sensibilità il delicato tema dei disturbi alimentari e del difficile cammino verso l’accettazione di sé. \n\nThe book \nThe novel tells the story of Aurora\, a young woman who\, since adolescence\, has experienced a deeply painful relationship with her body and food\, using eating as a refuge to fill an inner void. Growing up in a working-class neighborhood in Cagliari and surrounded by genuine affection—which unfortunately isn’t enough to save her—Aurora carries the heavy burden of obesity\, inadequacy\, and the judgment of the world through her youth. As she grows into adulthood\, her daily struggle against her reflection morphs into an inability to love others\, a direct consequence of her failure to love herself. Trapped in her own distress\, Aurora ultimately faces the necessity of confronting her reflection and embarking on a difficult path of rebirth\, realizing that the only way forward is to start from within to finally grant herself a second chance. \n\n\nThe author \nMaria Bonaria Capone\, born in Cagliari in 1964\, is an Italian writer and high school teacher. She is deeply rooted in her homeland\, where she currently lives with her husband and three children. After graduating with a degree in Modern Literature in 1987\, she immediately entered the world of education. Alongside her lifelong passion for reading and writing\, she actively pursues artistic interests such as painting and Middle Eastern dance. She made her literary debut in 2022 with the novel “La cattedra rovesciata: un insolito anno scolastico” (The Overturned Desk: An Unusual School Year)\, published by bookabook\, drawing from her firsthand experience to explore the complex relationships between teachers and students. In 2026\, she released her second novel\, “Il peso dello specchio” (The Weight of the Mirror)\, published by Camena Edizioni. In this intimate and touching book\, she shifts away from the classroom setting to thoughtfully examine the delicate themes of eating disorders and the challenging journey toward self-acceptance.

La sua vita si stravolge quando incontra Lidia\, una quarantenne determinata a interrompere una gravidanza difficile. \nQuesto incontro\, inizialmente uno scontro di valori\, costringerà Cristina a mettere in discussione le proprie certezze e ad aprire la sua “borsa” interiore\, affrontando finalmente le sue fragilità e i nodi irrisolti del passato. \nL’autrice \nFrancesca Spanu (San Gavino Monreale\, 1976) è un’avvocata\, scrittrice e operatrice culturale sarda. Vive e lavora tra il suo paese d’origine e Cagliari\, prestando consulenza legale per il centro antiviolenza “Feminas” e per la rete a tutela degli orfani speciali “Progetto Respiro”\, oltre a far parte della Commissione regionale per le pari opportunità. The plot follows the clash and connection between Cristina\, a young resident doctor in gynecology who is a rigid conscientious objector\, and Lidia\, a 40-year-old woman determined to terminate an unexpected pregnancy. This confrontation forces the doctor to question her own bourgeois prejudices\, pushing her to open her own inner “bag” and finally confront the fragilities and hypocrisies of her past. \nThe author \n\nFrancesca Spanu (born in San Gavino Monreale\, 1976) is a Sardinian lawyer\, writer\, and cultural organizer. She lives and works between her hometown and Cagliari\, serving as a legal consultant for the “Feminas” anti-violence center and the “Progetto Respiro” network\, which protects children orphaned by domestic violence. She is also a member of the Regional Commission for Equal Opportunities.
